Insurance Jewellery Valuations

Protecting your jewellery starts with having the right valuation. Whether you own an engagement ring, luxury watch, family heirloom, or bespoke piece, an up-to-date insurance valuation helps ensure you are properly covered in the event of loss, theft, or damage.

At Jewellery Services, our qualified gemmologists and valuers provide professional, independent jewellery valuations designed to support accurate insurance cover and smoother claims processes.

Unlike generic appraisals or outdated receipts, our reports include detailed descriptions, gemstone grading, metal identification, high-resolution photography, and current replacement values tailored to New Zealand market conditions.

Why You Need an Insurance Valuation

Jewellery values can change significantly over time due to fluctuations in precious metal and gemstone prices. Many people are unknowingly underinsured because they rely on old receipts or outdated valuations. Industry guidance commonly recommends professional valuations for higher-value jewellery items.

A professional valuation can help you:

  • Confirm the correct level of insurance cover
  • Provide evidence of ownership
  • Support faster and more accurate insurance claims
  • Ensure important details of your jewellery are documented
  • Reduce the risk of underinsurance or overinsurance

Do I Need to Make a Booking?

For smaller valuation jobs of 1–4 pieces, no booking is usually required. You are welcome to drop your items into our workshop during business hours and our team will guide you through the process.

If you have 5 or more items, we do recommend arranging a booking where possible. Larger valuation appointments can take additional time to intake, photograph, and assess correctly, so booking ahead helps us ensure one of our valuers is available and allows us to provide a smoother, faster experience.

If you are unsure, feel free to contact the team and we can advise on the best option for your items and timeframe.
